CLEVERLAND TECHNICAL SCHOOL (CTS)

was established in 2010 as an offshoot of CLEVERLAND HIGHT SCHOOL (CHS) which was founded in the year 2010 by Dr. Jean Baptiste Mugabe, an entrepreneur and senior lecturer in different universities in East Africa Community (EAC). Initially CLEVERLAND HIGH SCHOOL was created with the objective of training professional Accountants, tour guides/customer care and expert in computer management/computer science as it was stipulated in its first resolutions of Board of Directors meeting held on 4th June 2010.

On 8th October 2011, CLEVERLAND HIGH SCHOOL board of directors passed resolutions to change the name of CLEVERLAND HIGH SCHOOL to CLEVERLAND TECHNICAL SCHOOL (CTS) with the following trades: Computer Science and Management, Tourism and Accountancy. Subsequently CLEVERLAND HIGH SCHOOL opened the doors in its own premises on 16th January 2011. By the end of 2018 CLEVERLAND TECHNICAL SCHOOL transformed itself into CLEVERLAND TVET SCHOOL.

Since 2010 CLEVERLAND HIGH SCHOOL has transformed itself from High school into a TVET School with such diverse and tracks as accountancy, Tourism and Computer Science and Management.

Years of experiences

Today CLEVERLAND TVET SCHOOL offers short course certificates and Level five certificates in the following trades/Levels:

 1) Computers science and Management (Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5)

2) Tourism (Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5)

3) Accountancy (Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5).

 These courses are also offered at professional level as CLEVERLAND TVET SCHOOL integrates academics with industry based professional qualifications.

In this way CLEVERLAND TVET SCHOOL academic and professional programmes are designed to be relevant to the strategic challenges facing organizations in today’s dynamic business environment.

The establishment of CLEVERLAND TVET SCHOOL is in direct response to a felt need for  qualified multi-skilled professionals in the field of Accounting, Tourism and Computer science and Management in Eastern province in particular and Rwanda in general.

CLEVERLAND TVET SCHOOL’s Vision is to train job creators not job seeker’s in Rwanda, East Africa, and the entire Africa continent at large.

In the 21st century, the challenges of globalization, swift paced technological advancement and intense competition are having direct and visible impact on organizations and institutions globally. Only the resilient, focused and adaptive organizations and individuals are fit enough to compete in the new economy with knowledge as its basis.

CLEVERLAND TVET SCHOOL is equipping students and professionals with cutting edge skills, abilities and other indispensable attributes. It’s committed to providing excellent services that are second to none. The focus is on developing business leaders/professionals with the ability to create wealth and also employment to the young Rwandan population. Strategic initiatives have been designed in such a way that students and professionals (leaders and managers) are adequately prepared to respond in a pragmatic manner. They are trained to lead Organizational change and transformation in the time of turbulence and uncertainty. It is CLEVERLAND’s firm belief that the best way to survive change is to initiate it. And it is with this belief that CLEVERLAND has been engaging in a relentless endeavour towards unceasing expansion or progress.

In response to the rapidly changing economic environment and the process of globalization, the Institute has made sustained efforts to bring an international perspective to all its activities. CLEVERLAND’s programs are exceptional in Nyagatare district. CLEVERLAND’s new management team is highly qualified, competent, proactive, vision-oriented and well-focused. CLEVERLAND’s staff is diverse, with a mixture of rich educational and professional backgrounds

CLEVERLAND is a regional institution or school; for instance, not less than three countries from Africa (Rwanda, Uganda and DR Congo) are represented at CLEVERLAND TVET SCHOOL. Their teaching and capacity interests cover all the major aspects of tourism, business, computer science and management as well as general studies. Everything around CLEVERLAND echoes the vision of the founders and the process of change they initiated.

We are committed to give students a rigorous training to acquire high level skills that will make them enter the labour market with a “competitive edge”. The study method shall combine theory and practice to ensure mastery of skills. We shall also create interface with industry through compulsory internships, campus recruitment, project work, clinics, and public lectures by practitioners. People with different expertise and practical experience from industry are involved in programme development, teaching and evaluation. This relationship  helps the school to modify its program on continuous basis so as to produce graduates who are able to meet expectations of the industry and are relevant at all times.

We endeavour to use ICT tools in bid to modernize CLEVERLAND’s core business functions particularly in the areas of academic registry (students’ records, curriculum and performance), ICT-led teaching methodologies, digital library services, online learning platforms and subscription to electronic resources, and information management and dissemination system.

CLEVERLAND is a democratic school that welcomes positive criticism from its partners (parents, students and staffs), and listens to their views, and incorporates them into its development programme to guarantee that it is always the leader in the education sector in its area of specialization.
